Today our basement stairwell was transformed from a lumpy wall to the beginnings of a collection of quotes. I hope that eventually the walls will be covered with contributions from friends and family.

Worm Moon

Today I edited photos of the spring “worm moon” as snain (snow-rain) fell out my window. The weather doesn’t feel like spring, but the flowers say it is, so we Seattleites  choose to be hopeful.

Stones and greenery

Last fall I took an impromptu trip to the Harstine Island cemetery while visiting my grandparents. All the pictures I took were filled with moss and evergreens.  This breathtaking tree was covered in twisting roots.  Common ancestors.  I’ve been thinking a lot about green lately. If you’re a Washingtonian like I am, you’ve most likely read books or heard stories about your friend’s friend moving to Washington from Arizona, Texas, New Mexico, etc. and freaking out about how green everything is here, And over the last couple of weeks I have noticed that it is extremely green here. There’s such an abundance of moss and pine and plain old bushes. I love it.    This amazing grave was an old bedframe. 

Flurries

Yesterday we woke up to snow.  The roads were quickly decorated with curving tire tracks… and some other pieces of art.  Everything received a sugary coating.  And of course we made snowmen.  So many footprints.  And so much white.

New Year

This year I picked up the wreckage from the popper party in my room.    And I discovered an amazing ladybug.  Twenty-twelve is off to a pretty good start.

On our way home from Prosser, we drove past a giant junkyard of old cars. We couldn’t go inside, but there was this one car on our side of the fence, as well as an amazing Pepsi-Cola advertisement.
